Position/Title: Chief of People
Location: Nairobi, Kenya (On-Site)
Company Description:
Roam is a technology-enabled electric mobility company that aims to provide low-cost and low-emission transport solutions to the large population in Kenya and the greater African continent who primarily rely on motorcycles and buses to get around.
In Africa alone, over 1 million deaths are caused by polluted air and the climate crisis, caused by fossil fuel-powered transportation, continues to escalate. This calls for us to reimagine how we commute. Here at Roam, we are designing, developing and deploying electric motorcycles and buses that are affordable, reliable and tailored to the needs of the region.
These two products can offset the most amount of carbon emissions globally, reduce local emissions in cities, and at the same time create the most financial value for end-users.
The company recently launched the largest electric motorcycle plant in East Africa achieving yet another commercial scale-up milestone. We are ushering in a new growth phase for Roam. We are actively working towards a future where Kenyans can move around in a sustainable, unfragmented public transport sector, a future free of climate disasters. Roam is going after a large opportunity and is currently 160 people strong, all working to actualize this electric future.

About Roam
Roam was founded in 2017 just as electric mobility was taking off, when
electric cars were just arriving on our streets. Roam vision is to make
electric transport more accessible to a broader market by making the
technology more cost efficient and simplifying deployment. The company
focuses on all-electric conversion kits for fleet vehicles such as light
trucks, public transport and buses, as well as electric motorcycles and
energy systems. These focus areas have been chosen to maximize impact,
as these vehicles are some of the highest CO2 emitting vehicles on the
market and are largely an untapped opportunity. Therefore creating the
