About the role:

We are looking for a General Engineer to based in India to be a bridge between sourcing in India, R&D and sourcing in Nairobi. He/She will be responsible of coordinating and managing sourcing from a design perspective, testing and quality of parts and subsystems as they move from design to sourcing to testing. He/she will also inspect and approve parts received from suppliers and making sure that parts received meet the specifications sent from the RnD team based in Nairobi, Kenya to coordinate testing efforts in India, He/She will also vet suppliers in India and be a bridge between suppliers in India and RnD and operations in Kenya.

The candidate must have at least 3 year experience in the Automotive industry and deep knowledge of automotive parts.

Key Duties and responsibilities:

• Facilitate interaction between the company and suppliers in terms of the part selection and their validation for Form, fitment, Function.
• Facilitate identification of parts and components that meets RnD specs
• Facilitate the identification of local suppliers for local parts development by evaluating their technical capability and quality processes using acceptable supplier assessment tools.
• Ensure that parts are approved through the company’s process as necessary
• Actively take part in parts development process to coordinate and understand the cost build-up of the parts
• Determine the root cause of supplier quality problems and implement timely and effective quality resolutions
• Review supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems by conducting Quality Audit Visits as necessary, and monitoring supplier status with respect to Quality Cost and Delivery(QCD) aspect
• Develop and maintain relevant supplier data
• Develop and implement appropriate strategies to identify and mitigate supplier risks
• Take part in negotiation of supplier part quantities and cost
• Coordinate test efforts at a product and component level with testing partners in India and design and test engineers based in Nairobi
• Manage and control all the 2D and 3D supplier drawings
• Working knowledge PPAP (Production part approval process) procedures to ensure supplier and the company are integrating efficiently

Qualifications

• Must have at least 3 year working experience in Automotive in an ISO certified company.
• Must have a degree/diploma in relevant technical or engineering field mechanical/mechatronic
• Must have working knowledge of RnD and sourcing processes
• Must have the ability to interpret 2D drawings and specification sheet
• Must have working knowledge of CAD ( Solid works or Onshape)
• Must have understanding of certifications, standards, testing standards with in the automotive context specifically 2-wheelers
